Lantana Verbenaceae Prune hard in spring; overwinter bright at 5–10 °C and on the dry side. Lathyrus Fabaceae The more you pick, the more it flowers – don't let the pods ripen. Lavandula Lamiaceae Cut back by a third after flowering, never into old wood – it will not regrow there. Leucanthemum Asteraceae Cut back after flowering and divide every 3 years, or the centre dies out. Leucojum Amaryllidaceae It wants moist soil – ideal by streams or ponds in part shade. Lilium Liliaceae Even the pollen can kill cats – keep lilies out of homes with cats. Lobelia Campanulaceae Cut it back by half in midsummer and feed – it will flower again until frost. Lobularia Brassicaceae After a midsummer lull, shear it back by a third and it carpets with flowers again. Lupinus Fabaceae Likes acidic, loose, not-too-rich soil; it yellows in limy ground.
