Perfect Plants Club is a free, non-commercial community for plant collectors. By registering you accept the rules below. The four most important points:

Respect others – beginners and experts both learn here.

Your own photos

Upload only photos you took or have permission to use.

Protected species: no

No wild-collected plants, no swaps without CITES papers.

Not a marketplace

Swaps yes – commercial selling and ads no.

02Account

• You must be 16 or older. One account per person.
• You are responsible for your login details; never share your password. If you suspect misuse, change it immediately.
• Usernames must not be offensive or misleading or impersonate people, brands or moderators.
• You can delete your account in Settings at any time.

03Respectful behaviour

• No insults, harassment, hate speech, threats, discrimination, pornographic or violent content.
• Constructive criticism is welcome – about the plant, not the person. Beginner questions are welcome too.
• Share other people’s personal data (address, phone, photos) only with their consent.
• Care tips are given in good faith but without guarantee. With toxic plants, mind children and pets.

04Content and photos

• Upload only your own photos or images you have rights to. Others’ photos without permission infringe copyright.
• Your content stays yours. By uploading you grant us a simple, free licence as needed to run the service (storing, resizing, displaying per your chosen visibility). It ends when the content or account is deleted.
• Species catalog suggestions (names, care data) should be accurate; we may use them freely for the community’s benefit.

05Protected species (CITES)

Many cacti, succulents and orchids are protected under CITES (Washington Convention) and EU Regulation (EC) No 338/97. It is therefore prohibited to:

• offer, swap or sell wild-collected plants, seeds or cuttings;
• pass on Annex A (Appendix I) species without required documents (e.g. EU certificate);
• publish exact habitat locations of rare species (protection against poaching).

Before swapping or gifting, both parties are responsible for complying with conservation, plant health and customs rules (e.g. phytosanitary certificate when shipping outside the EU).

06Swaps

• Perfect Plants Club is an intermediary service: it only helps members who want to swap find each other and message. We are not a party to the swap, handle no money, take no commission and are not involved in shipping. Swaps are made between members at their own risk; we are not liable for plant condition, shipping or fulfilment.
• Only swapping and gifting are allowed. Selling for money is prohibited; sharing postage costs is fine.
• Members are themselves responsible for complying with all applicable rules, in particular: conservation (CITES, Reg. (EC) 338/97), plant health (Reg. (EU) 2016/2031 – live plants sent by post may require a plant passport; seeds and in-person handovers may fall under different rules), the EU list of invasive species (Reg. (EU) 1143/2014), and, when shipping outside the EU, phytosanitary certificates and customs rules. If in doubt, your local plant health authority can advise.
• Be honest about the plant’s condition (pests, diseases), only pass on healthy plants and keep your word. Ratings should be factual.
• We store no names, addresses or phone numbers: after agreeing, share your shipping address by private message – only with your actual swap partner.

07Reporting illegal content

Every listing, post, photo, profile and message has a “Report” button: use it to report prohibited (e.g. protected or invasive) plants, scams or other infringements. Moderators decide objectively and without undue delay; affected users are notified of removals or account restrictions with a statement of reasons. Complaints about decisions can be sent to the contact email. Point of contact for authorities and users: the contact details in the Impressum (Art. 11–12 DSA).

08Commerce and spam

Perfect Plants Club is not a marketplace. Commercial selling, advertising, affiliate links, mass or unsolicited messages, fake accounts and artificially inflating the system (e.g. XP, likes) are prohibited. Sharing small private costs (e.g. postage) in a swap is fine.

09Moderation and bans

• You can report any content with the “Report” button. Moderators review reports within a reasonable time.
• For violations we may hide or delete content, issue warnings, or suspend accounts temporarily or permanently – in serious cases (e.g. illegal content) without prior warning.
• If you think a decision was wrong, write to the address in the Impressum – we review every complaint.

10Liability and availability

The service is provided free of charge “as is”; we strive for availability and regular backups but cannot guarantee them. Keep your own copies of important photos. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health; otherwise liability is excluded to the extent permitted by law.

11Changes, governing law

We may update these rules as the community grows; significant changes are announced in advance. German law applies, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection provisions.
