In the grower’s words
Stenocactus coptonogonus is a solitary, flattened globular cactus that may occasionally produce several offsets. Its body is matte blue-green and usually reaches approximately 10 cm in height and 11 cm in diameter. It is distinguished by 10–15 straight, sharply angled ribs that give the plant its characteristic appearance. The sunken areoles may have a yellowish woolly covering when young. The plant usually bears around five, and generally three to seven, greyish-white spines. The upper spines are stronger, with the central one often flattened and ringed. Flowers appear close to the apex. They are white with a distinctive violet central stripe and measure approximately 3 cm in length and 4 cm in diameter.
