In the grower’s words
Astrophytum capricorne is a cactus species native to northeastern Mexico and a member of the family Cactaceae. Its globular to short cylindrical stem usually has 7–9 ribs and is decorated with small whitish scales. Its most distinctive feature is its crown of long, strongly curved, horn-like spines. In summer, it can produce large yellow flowers, often with a reddish centre. This slow-growing cactus prefers a sunny position, a loose, exceptionally well-drained substrate, and a dry winter dormancy.
