In the grower’s words
Sulcorebutia canigueralii is a small cactus native to the mountainous regions of south-central Bolivia. Its green stem is globular to slightly flattened, and mature plants may produce offsets to form small clusters. Short, curved or laterally spreading spines emerge from spirally arranged areoles. The flowers appear near the lower part of the stem and range from pink to purplish shades. In its natural habitat, the species grows in the dry highlands of Bolivia’s Chuquisaca Department, on rocky, well-drained soils. Collection JO 648 originates near the road running southeast from Sucre towards Tarabuco, at approximately 3,015 metres above sea level.
