In the grower’s words
Stenocactus multicostatus is a globular to slightly flattened cactus. Its most distinctive feature is the large number of thin, wavy ribs arranged closely around the plant body. The relatively widely spaced areoles produce several spines of varying lengths. Its unusual rib structure makes it one of the most distinctive members of the genus.
